TWENTY TWO HOURS

Give me two hours a day of activity, and I’ll take the other twenty-two in dreams.      - Luis Buñuel

I used to battle my day dream tendencies.. After reading Buñuel’s quote I realized I was overlooking my best attribute, my dreams. I didn’t want to be a machine, working without taking the time and pleasure to experience what inspired me. I needed time and space to create work that comes from a place within.

Born in New Orleans, Brooke moved to Los Angeles at age two. As she grew up in West Hollywood, the twisted history, jubilant spirit and voodoo of her birthplace floated through her head. She returned to New Orleans to study Fine Arts and English Literature at Tulane. While in NOLA, she apprenticed for an upholsterer, worked in a printmaking gallery, was an excellent cocktail waitress, frequented the Mermaid Lounge, indulged in way too much of everything and left the city six months before Hurricane Katrina. Pursuing Industrial Design at Art Center drew Brooke back to the West Coast. After graduating from Art Center College of Design, Brooke designed products, furniture, and lighting for the architecture firm Rios Clementi Hale Studios. After two years of working on various projects for Rios, Brooke launched Twenty Two Hours.

All pieces are made locally in Los Angeles, CA. utilizing materials that are either salvaged or recycled. One of the reasons Twenty Two Hours loves to work with metal is that it is inherently sustainable in that it can be melted down and re-used, and not just thrown out.
